Personal Statement
Currently London based having graduated from the University of Westminster with distinction.
During my final year at Westminster I focused on how Buildings can make lives more joyful, believing, perhaps naively, that architecture can make the world better. In the contemporary context of a global climate emergency, diminishing belief in democracy and a decline in living conditions I think there is potential for buildings to make people’s lives more joyful – environmentally, socially and, most significantly, emotionally.
Prior to starting at Westminster I worked at de Metz Forbes Knight architects, where I learnt a lot from the many talented individuals that worked there. During my time at dMFK I worked on a range of projects at various stages, from developing residential schemes to fit within complex constrained contexts, to fitting out large co-working spaces. The size of the practice and range of work gave me a great part 1 experience and the confidence to take on further challenges in the future.
Outside of architecture I am a keen sportsman, having dabbled in minor counties cricket as well as playing professionally overseas in Melbourne. Cricket has served as a vehicle for me to travel, allowing me in 2018 to play in Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the US. As a result, cricket has exposed me to cultures, individuals, and communities that I might not have typically come across. I am also a member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), as well as Esher Cricket Club.
